Periodontics healthy gums, stable teeth

Healthy teeth start with healthy gums. We treat gum infections at the root, combining modern techniques with natural remedies that have documented effects.

Why it matters

A silent infection that wears away the bone.

Periodontitis is a chronic infection of the tissues that hold the tooth in place: the gum, the periodontal ligament and the jaw bone. It starts quietly, often with gums that bleed when brushing, which many people ignore for years, and progresses silently until the tooth becomes loose.

Plaque hardens into tartar below the gum line, and bacteria multiply in the pockets between tooth and gum. From there they release toxins that destroy the ligament and the bone. Without healthy bone around it, the tooth loses its support: it moves, tilts and may eventually be lost.

The good news: periodontitis is treatable, especially when caught early. Prevention and early diagnosis are what actually stop the process.

Microbiology

Four key bacteria, serious consequences.

The biofilm below the gum line is an ecosystem of hundreds of species. Four of them are consistently linked to the progression of gum disease.

01

Fusobacterium nucleatum

Bridges early colonisers and aggressive bacteria. It is key to the formation of a mature biofilm.

02

Porphyromonas gingivalis

Considered the “keystone pathogen”. It produces enzymes that break down collagen and gum tissue.

03

Enterococcus faecalis

Resistant to many common antiseptics and involved in persistent infections, especially combined endo-perio lesions.

04

Prevotella intermedia

Linked to acute gum inflammation and to hormonal flare-ups (pregnancy, puberty).

Protocol

Modern techniques, step by step.

Every case starts with a full diagnosis and is built in stages, so the results last.

  1. 01

    Detailed diagnosis

Six-point periodontal charting per tooth, X-rays, plaque and bleeding indices. Only what we measure can be tracked over time.

  2. 02

    Ultrasonic scaling

Removal of tartar above the gum line with precise ultrasonic vibrations, without harming the enamel.

  3. 03

    Root planing

Cleaning the gum pockets and smoothing the roots, so bacteria have nowhere to settle again.

  4. 04

    Laser periodontal therapy

Decontaminating the pockets with a diode laser: antibacterial and biostimulating, no scalpel, minimally invasive.

  5. 05

    Natural adjunct

Local application of tea tree oil at the end of the treatment.

  6. 06

    Maintenance

Check-ups every 3 months in the first year, then every 6 months. Periodontal care is a long-term partnership, not a one-off procedure.

Natural adjunct

The science behind nature.

At the end of the periodontal protocol I apply tea tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) locally. Its leaves contain terpenes, mainly terpinen-4-ol, whose antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects have been studied.

The oil complements the laser and the mechanical cleaning, locally, without the whole-body effects of oral antibiotics.

It is a practical example of an integrative approach: modern technology working together with natural remedies with documented effects, not instead of them.

FAQ

About gums and gum disease

My gums bleed when I brush. Is it serious?

Bleeding gums are most often the first sign of inflammation (gingivitis), which can progress to periodontitis if left untreated. It is not an emergency, but it is worth a check-up: at the gingivitis stage the problem usually resolves completely with a professional clean and the right brushing technique.

Can periodontitis be cured?

Periodontitis can be stopped and stabilised: the inflammation goes away, the pockets shrink and the teeth stay stable. Lost bone does not grow back on its own, which is why early diagnosis matters. After treatment, regular check-ups (every 3–6 months) keep the result.

Does periodontal treatment hurt?

Root planing is done under local anaesthetic, and laser therapy is well tolerated, with no scalpel and no stitches. Most patients only feel mild sensitivity for a few days.

How much does periodontal treatment cost?

As a guide: ultrasonic scaling 200 lei per session, root planing 100 lei per tooth, laser periodontal therapy 350 lei per quadrant. You get the exact cost at the consultation, in a written plan. The full list is on the Prices page.
